The Avon Preschool meets four days a week, Monday through Thursday, from 8:10 to 3:05. The day consists of::

Circle Time: During this time we discuss our day, sing songs, do some active movement, have calendar time, and show 'n' tell time.

Library: We walk to the school library to listen to a story and check out a book.

Work time: This is the time for one on one individualization, open art and choice time.

Small Group: Activities: Children are in small learning groups to practice skills.

Lunch: Children prepare for lunch. They wash their hands, get their trays, and sit at the table. Lunch is served in the family style manner. This is the time for recall. Children will discuss their morning activities.

Brushing of Teeth: After lunch the children dump their trays, wash up their area and brush their teeth.

Nap : Children go to the bathroom and wash their hands prior to getting their mat for nap. Nap is approximately one hour in length.

Gross motor activity: Children will use large muscles during organized play or free choice play.

Snack: Children have snack on a daily basis. Some are made at school others are brought from home.

Prepare for Home: At the days end children get their backpacks and prepare for home

We also make three home visits a year. One before school starts, one in January, and the last one in May.
